Taking first place in the "business" category was Hackleman Auto for their creative use of out-of-the-ordinary materials.
Esther Minton won first prize in the "individual" category with her scarecrow named the Bird Lady.

In October 2009, downtown Danville launched its second annual Scarecrow Contest. The response was outstanding, with 33 wonderfully unique scarecrows lining the square. And they attracted a lot of attention!
The entry fee was $5.00 and the first place winners took home $100 and a trophy each.
