Play-A-Round Downtown

Ahhhhh…….you know spring is in the air when Downtown Danville is transformed into a giant putting course. For two weeks in April, you can test your putting skills on a variety of cleverly crafted putting holes set up inside participating businesses around the square. Each participating location creates and names their own putting hole using themes or items from their business. It’s easy to play. Stop by any downtown business and pick up a Play-A-Round scorecard. Then ”play-a-round” downtown at your leisure. Players who complete at least 18 holes during the two week event are eligible for the grand prize. This event is free and open to all ages. Summer Sounds on the Square

Experience the coolest outdoor music series in the heart of Hendricks County! The streets of Downtown Danville transform into a live music venue on the third Saturday of each month from June thru September. This annual concert series features high-energy performances from local and regional artists in a unique outdoor setting on the south side of the Courthouse Square. Concert-goers need to bring a lawn chair or blanket, but there is a limited number of picnic tables available on a first come, first served basis. Food and adult beverages are available for purchase inside the venue so you won’t have to miss out on a single note. Admission is $5 cash for adults 21 and over. Scarecrow Festival

The Crows are Coming! Our annual Scarecrow Contest begins the first Saturday in October when the ‘CROWS’ return to the square. Families and businesses compete for pride and prizes as the courthouse lawn is lined with amazing examples of talent and creativity. Judges select winners from two categories, but the public gets to decide the winner of the coveted People’s Choice Award. The Scarecrow Contest entries remain on display the entire month of October. The Downtown Danville Partnership is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop, promote, and sustain Danville’s historic courthouse square as “Hendricks County’s Downtown;” the county’s gathering place and its retail, civic, entertainment, and government center.
